I have a hard time imagining people not needing to be attractive to someone. The only thing that will change is the criteria (beauty in the eye of the beholder). And I can imagine artificial skin pigments or mods still being common in some form or other.
There is a lot going on in the world around us. People often build customs and routines so that parts of their lives can run on autopilot while they deal with the less controlled aspects. That really is understandable and usually helpful but, when custom becomes a set of blinders that draw the line between "possible" and "impossible", then our own expectations become imaginary shackles that hold us back as surely as any iron.
I loved the way you put this--so true! I need to put these words into the notebook I carry to my meetings; we're facing many challenges at my work that require more open thinking, and it's tough to always be the one trying to break through old ways of thinking.

Thanks for giving me food for thought!
