Can anyone tell me if this is true?:

If your bank is Cambrian Credit Union, you can cash a cheque at *any* credit union (like Assiniboine or whatever).

ETA: IT IS MOST DEFINITELY NOT, FTL. D:

I think that's totally untrue, but, you know. I figured I'd ask around. Because Jordan has signed his paycheque over to me, but my bank is in Windsor Park ( Read more... )

I've heard the Credit Union thing before, but I'm not sure if its actually true.

But I'm pretty confident that you can cash the cheque at his bank, so just do that. Make sure you bring ID.

EXCELLENT. One time I had a cheque from my mom or something, and I went to cash it at Scotiabank, but it wasn't my bank and they were like, "Is this *her* bank?" and I was like, "Er, no?" and they were like, "GTFO" and then I left. GRATE STORY, EH? Basically, that is how I knew about the RBC thing, which is totally convenient. GOING AFTER WORK FOR THE WIN.

But seriously, why is it my responsibility to cash his cheque so he can pay rent? *angryface*

Wait, wait. I misread.

If its *his* cheque from *his* bank, you can cash it there. But since its his signed-over paycheque, then you'll need to do it at either your bank or the originating bank.

(And doing a bit of research, it does sound like it really won't matter which Credit Union you go to, although I can't find anywhere that says that explicitly.)

Sounds like a fucking pain in the ass. Although at least this way you know it will get done.

Well, the bank is Crosstown Credit Union, which is on Donald, which is...*points East*...maybe? WHERE THE FUCK IS DONALD OMG. Oh, okay. Navigo is brilliant.

This is so. much. work. I'm just going to write a cheque for his rent and then deposit this one on the weekend - my dad already said he would take me to the bank because he is awesome like that.

And, yeah, I'm stupid. Clearly, this isn't a cheque *from him* so the RBC thing doesn't work. *facepalm* I'm not thinking straight, apparently. D:

Or maybe there's a Credit Union near my work? GOD. I HATE HIM. I'M STRESSING OUT OVER HIS RENT. And I'm only getting $40 out of $184 from this. FUCKER.
