He finished wiping off Vera's barrel, "'Sides, I'm a better shot than you are, an' if'n there's somethin' out here, we don't wanna miss."

At least they don't seem to be in any danger of running out of fuel. Must be some kind of hybrid or fuel-cell car or something. The light's starting to go again, so he flips on the low beams.
"We should have just left the damn thing at the base of the cliff and gone with them. No telling what's up there. What if it rains? You think there's any sort of shelter up there?"

His eyes went back to scanning the outside, narrowing in search of something, anything, really, that could be of potential use or threat. Had to stay on alert, despite how Adam was right, the whole idea of drivin' around was stupid.
Another snort and, quieter, "Mal won't let nothin' happen to nobody if it rains. Ain't nobody gonna get hurt if it does."
