Daffodil doesn't sulk - but she does get bored. After all, she's an active eleven-year-old who can't let her feet touch the ground. That's really not helpful

She's amused, Link's confused. He just came outside to read, but no. Crazy girls trying to walk on their hands. He watches her with his head tilted to the side for a while.
"...Hello," he eventually says "Do you want some help?"
"I know! In the Kokiri Forest we took care of our selves because we didn't have grown-ups and ever since I left I've been getting treated like I can't even wipe my nose without somebody's help. Especially around here!" That's a sore spot. Stupid troll, stupid doctor.
"Ah, I tried! But they wouldn't even listen to me. I was completely able to take care of myself, but Albrecht just picked me up and dragged me off without even asking!" Link is smiling, so Daffodil shouldn't get the idea he's mad. He just likes her attention.
"But whatever. I snuck out of the infirmary a while ago, as you can probably tell. I'd like to see him catch me while I'm not sick!"
"I was only a little sick, and I've been a lot worse and gotten better on my own." He blushes and looks at his feet.
"The doctors are all right, but I worry. They just don't know what's really going on in the world, and somebody's going to get hurt because of it." Now he sounds serious. He's actually thought about that quite a bit.
"I'm just used to being the one taking care of things, I suppose. I don't like being vulnerable." He cocks his head to match Daffodil's.
"What I mean is that something's going to happen to someone and the doctors will mess up when they try to fix it. Or someone will get hurt and they won't even be able to tell because they don't know magic. It's not safe." Link rubs his eye with the heel of his hand and sighs. It never ends, does it?
Daffodil nods. "But sharing abilities makes you stronger not weaker."
She frowns.
"I don't know if there's any magic here that people didn't bring with them. But you're right. People who know magic should teach what they know to the ones who don't. Which goes for everything. We should. . . like reading. We should all learn together, everythig we can teach each other."
"Yeah, you're right. You're pretty smart, actually," Link says, blushing bright red. It doesn't mean anything!
"So, I was kind of wondering," Link takes a deep breath, serious again "Why are you in that chair? I'm not--I'm not trying to be rude, I just--" He rubs his eye again "You know."
Daffodil doesn't notice the blush, really, being too busy trying not to blush herself. That's the second time today someone has said she's smart.
"Thank you. And the chair?" She really doesn't mind being asked. Why wouldn't people want to know? It's still easiest to demonstrate. So, she reaches out a leg, and lays a foot briefly on the ground.
There's a sudden springing up of greenery around her foot, slim blades studded with purple flowers. She pales slightly and pulls her foot back, closing her eyes. Her head hurts.
Daffodil's been thinking about that, too. And she's come to a conclusion - doesn't know if she's right though.
"I think maybe it's because the soil is dead. And there's no magic here. At home, the soil was dark and rich and alive, and there's magic everywhere. But here, there's only my magic - so it uses me to grow. Instead of the magic in the soil. But I think I'm getting stronger. It doesn't make me so sick, now."
"I'm glad." Link sighs and closes his eyes, bringing his hands up to them.
"This place, it really, it's just not a good place. It's not. It's like it's trying to kill everything on it."
"Mm, do you want to do something? We could go exploring." Link looks up and smiles again. He wants to do something for Daffodil, and stop worrying about the fact that he can't fix anything. So - playing.
"...Hello," he eventually says "Do you want some help?"

"Well, they are only trying to help. Just prove that you don't need any help, and maybe they'll leave you alone?"

She's still admiring him, though. He's brave!

She cocks her head to the side. That sounds interesting. "What do you mean?"

"That's amazing--but it hurts?" Link notices her closed eyes and pale face and steps closer, hand lifted uselessly "Why does it hurt?"

"Only flat places," she says, pouting slightly. "I can't manage anything else in this chair, unless someone carries me."
He's not really big enough to carry here - strong enough, she's sure, but it's be uncomfortable for both of them.
