At this point, the infirmary is empty save for those who may be ill or sleeping (like Mel), and its peaceful silence is broken upon the entrance of Greg House, River Tam, Erin Fray and a newcomer with a gunshot wound.
River is looking very guilty, and just a little bit scared.

Oh well -- not really his problem. But there's a look at River; he knows he does not have to say anything -- he knows that she gets that look well enough. Come here, it's alright.
...he's got to be the only one intuitive enough as a nontelepath to figure out how to communicate with one on her own frequency. Verbally, he gives her, "Nobody's mad. You did what you had to do, River."
The girl doesn't like guns; he knows that much, dealing her.
