At this point, the infirmary is empty save for those who may be ill or sleeping (like Mel), and its peaceful silence is broken upon the entrance of Greg House, River Tam, Erin Fray and a newcomer with a gunshot wound.

River is looking very guilty, and just a little bit scared.

It's a coincidence, that Simon happens to come along to check on Mel so that Tris can sleep.

He is not expecting what he finds.

"River? What happened?"

Simon glances down at the coat with vague curiosity, but dismisses it a second later to concentrate on the wound.

He's as quick as he can be about the cleaning, suturing and dressing, and it's over before too long.

Ah. Quick and painless.

"Thank you." Preston opens and closes his hand.

He starts to put his shirt on again, "-You appear to be in a position of authority. Your assistance won't be overlooked."

"I'm not the one in charge", Simon tells him, already half-turned towards River. "Just one of the doctors - it's Zuko you want, for authority. Come back to see me tomorrow so I can check that wound?"

Preston nods, "...Of course."

River's looking up at Simon, but almost seems to be shrinking into the wall she's leaning against.

Maybe she doesn't want to talk about it.

House watches this all with pale eyes; Simon, River, Preston.

Oh well -- not really his problem. But there's a look at River; he knows he does not have to say anything -- he knows that she gets that look well enough. Come here, it's alright.

...he's got to be the only one intuitive enough as a nontelepath to figure out how to communicate with one on her own frequency. Verbally, he gives her, "Nobody's mad. You did what you had to do, River."

The girl doesn't like guns; he knows that much, dealing her.

Simon shoots him a sharp look, then reaches out to his sister.

"Meimei? I'm not angry with you, if that's what you're afraid of."
