Krauser needs to make more noise when he's walking. Really, he does. Day and night are similarly gloomy here, but he tends to stick to whatever shadows and cover he can find when he's alone. When he's with people, they tend to get annoyed when he does that too much. It often makes them jumpy.
"Of course, you haven't been here so long. It makes a difference."
He's being friendly enough. It's a good day/night/indiscernable 24-hour period in which to be him.
He didn't move, since it didn't look like she was holding it to throw. "I try to go unnoticed when I'm out here. I admit it was more important when there were Magog out." And, well, during his military career, but does he need to talk about that?
"Yeah. There's seeds, though. We'll have them again." He sounds very sure of that. "So, is this lunch and a hike?" Despite the stake, she seems very casual about this whole "head out at night!" business.
"Yes, seeds," says Buffy, wrinkling her nose. "And this is either lunch, breakfast, or dinner."
Pause. "Or a snack. Or, you know, dessert."
She shakes her head. "I always knew sunlight was useful, what with the tanning and the burning of vampires, but I never realized how useful it is in the time-keeping department."
"Guess so," she says, squinting at him. "I mean, there's no burning rain of death, I can't hear any screams, and the breeze isn't strong enough to mess up my hair."
Sokka is not actually supposed to be outside - shh! Don't tell! - but there were very few places that he could think of where he could be completely alone for an extended period of time without being noisily interrupted or easily discovered.
Part of it is the need to think some things over, some very specific things...
Another part is that he's totally hoarding that carrot he's obtained and doesn't want it stolen from him. Everyone else grabbed the fruit but Sokka steals the carrots. NO STEALING.
In any case, he's up on the wall in one of the towers. Not scheduled for sentry duty - he really is - it's a good place to hide. And to find acquaintances he hasn't seen for a while.

"Oh -- sorry, you startled me."
She tosses the apple up, once, and catches it, with a quirk of a smile. "Trust me, I'm welcoming. I just kind of want to save it, you know?"

And so he's off for a walk outside himself when he notices the young girl walking around.
"Nice night, huh? Well, as nice as they get in this place."

He grins.
"Haven't seen you around. But then, I've been something of a hermit. Name's Adam. Adam Pierson."

"Hey!"

She looks right.
No one!
Buffy blinks and tips her head back. "Hello?" A moment's pause; she shades her eyes. It's kind of futile. "Sokka?"

She grins back, despite herself, and waves the apple. "Just -- taking a walk. How 'bout you?"

He's not even trying to be stealthy. He just must have a death wish.

She falls into step behind him, trying for silence and coming close -- but not enough.
