Yes, he's heard of her reputation, but he also knows what happened. His mother had told him, had asked him when he was little to take care of her, to treat her kindly because she had had a difficult life and had been taken from her so many years ago, never to know a mother's love.
"No more evil than me, anyway."
And there's not cute smile or spin on that. He lets it lie. Let her think what she likes.
