Room 202.

Krauser's pretty sure he's seeing a diversion. He went outside when he heard the alarms and just watched. The kid? Shot, but the body left behind; the Magog wouldn't leave food if they'd planned on shooting someone. So they were just taking opportunities. And in his mind, the troops charging off to save one probably-dead man made for a golden ( Read more... )

Quinn puts up a hand. "I'll take lookout on the portal," he says, and holds up his rifle. "I've done sentry duty and lived under siege most of my life. All the itch went out of my trigger finger years ago."

"Perfect." He glances at the rifle. "You get more than one coming through at a time, get the hell out and block the door. Don't be heroic. You're just the first line of defense. We'll get them in the hallway if we have to. Whoever's taking the front needs to fall back if you fall back, or we risk their getting surrounded. Be sure to call them for help first."

He glares at the portal, then drags the couch in front--not so close that any returning rescue team members will immediately all fall over it. It's just there to provide a small barrier between portal and door.

"I can keep watch. I have good eyesight. I haven't had weapons training here, though."

Padme was unsure of what she could do, other than calm the people who were hiding. "I'll help where I'm needed most. If you need me just to keep the non-fighters calm, I'll do that too."

She could shoot a blaster with good accuracy, but she didn't have her blaster here. She really would have to learn to shoot a crossbow.

To be honest, he can't really place her, although he remembers her voice. "Watch where the gate is, then. They're likely to come expecting to find it, and then just head over where it was. If you hear the wall screaming and don't see anything, let the nearest fighters know that side's still clear. Then be sure you're out of the way of arrows. Keeping the non-fighters quiet would help."

He's not distant at all. He actually seems a bit more alive than he has before. There's a knife and a few wooden stakes nearby. He picks up the knife. "Iroh's in charge. Anything he tells you to do overrules me."

"Good eyesight, sir, and a steady shot. I'm also... a little tougher than average."

I twist my swordcane, revealing the yard of Spanish steel within.

"And a more than common duelist."

No training, but I knew the theory and was decent enough.

Krauser looks him over. Introductions will have to wait. "Steady shot? With what? Bows are in the armory."

Tougher. Another one. All to the good, in this case. "Take a downstairs window, then. Shoot until they're too close, then use the sword. You read the Magog profile yet?"

I nod.

"Certainly. I've had the time."

When it was nearly morning and everyone else was mostly asleep, I was awake... so I read.

"And that sounds good for me."

Perhaps I would yet taste one of these creatures, find if they're pallatable. The thought disgusted me, but it was necessary for the safety of others.

"Right. Get yourself a bow if you can use it. If you can, west wall, upper floor. If they show up and you shoot, they'll probably climb for you--the windows on the ground floor of that side are pretty well blocked."

Ed's not one to ask for orders. He just helps out where he thinks he's needed, and while he could make HELL for anything coming through the portal that wassn't spuposed to be, it might wreck the building. So he took a position in one of the watch towers, waiting.

Which is quite a good idea and fully supported!

If Krauser knew he were out there he'd try to have someone by the door to let Al in. That's about it.

(ooc: and so begins Operation HANDWAVE LIEK WO!)

Lauren had her knife strapped on her belt, and her .45 automatic with ammunition. Which she mentioned as such.

She added, "I'm flexible on this, can help keep look out and defend too."

"Perfect. Lower floor. Watch the front door. Save your shots until they're close."

He doesn't like the range on the pistol if she sees the Magog out further in the open. That's more rifle work. Nothing to be done about that.

"I'll be in the middle of the second floor until I know where they're attacking from. Then, I'll be there."

He might have to give up his 'just a slightly-above-average soldier' charade for this. If he does, it will be a necessary sacrifice.

Lauren nodded, and checked her weapons. She grabbed a few stakes on her way, and then headed downstairs to get into position.
