[ Ah, just the Nation he wan- er, needs to see? Yeah, needs. America doesn't want this at all, of course. But nevertheless, he's risen to the challenge the anon gave him with his usual determined spirit: America has dressed in one of his best suits, his bomber jacket abandoned for the situation (sadly, ruefully; he feels so naked) and he's taken the same care in grooming himself tonight that he did when he was dared to ask Japan out. He keeps repeating to himself over and over again, "Channel your inner Gene Kelly, channel your inner Gene Kelly...". He's nowhere near as talented as Gene was, but he's doing his best!

When he hears England call out to him, he skids to a halt and waves. Ohcrapohcrapohcrap... ]

[ America just smiles down at England innocently, even though his nerves are kind of all over the place right now. He holds out a hand towards the older Nation though. ]

[ Oh, wow, his chance came up fast! America wasn't expecting it so soon and he feels his nervousness react violently to the realization, so while he does exaggerate an attempt to grab England properly, it's not all an act. His hands fumble clumsily and he quickly pretends to be far more thrown off by all the flailing than he really is, trying to grasp onto sleeves and wrists while making it very obvious that he's not having an easy time here, flinching backwards at the wild waving of limbs. ]

England... You're gonna-

[ And... maybe, just maybe he catches onto him just long enough to turn him around a little so that his back is facing the thin, scored ice. One tumble ought to do it, yep. ]

[ It's woooorkiiiiiing! Although America feels a little bit like he's going to be sick here, because if this really does work...

[ But perhaps America, instead, gives England a little underhanded push towards the ice. ]

[ America hears it too, but he just stares and blinks, hunched over as if about to offer a hand for help. He doesn't extend it though. ]

[ The splash from England falling into the water isn't nearly as big as America was hoping and he's a little disappointed by the lack of drama, actually. Vaguely, he wonders if anon is going to mark him off for that, but then he figures that his entire plan wasn't what the anon had in mine, in the first place, so whatever.

In any case, he almost pauses to see if England really can't swim, like Alex suggested, before it hits him that if it turns out England can, his whole plan will be ruined. He drops to his knees near the edge of the broken ice, tears off his long black overcoat, and scrambles for England, shouting his name over and over. ]

England, England! I'll save you, England!

[ Luckily for England, smashing up the surrounding ice that the other Nation is probably well on his way to slipping under if he doesn't just go straight down first, is an easy enough task for America. Now that there's more room and a sure exit visible, he takes off his glasses and tosses them onto his coat before dropping himself into the water. ]

FUCK!

[ Yes, actually, the water is quite cold. He should have seen that coming. Anyway, he dives, the dark water making it difficult for him to spot England immediately, but he catches him around the waist soon enough and heads back to the surface quickly. ]
