this is one of me all time FAVORITE stage shows and i was so excited to hear they were going to adapt a musical movie version...until Russell Crowe's name came up. ugh. UGH!! i hate him, and i don't think he'll be able to pull off any of the singing.

i'll just have to try and ignore him as best as i can. i love that it's coming out in December too!

Hey, he's playing a villain. You can channel that hate right into Javert. He's a RL douche, but a good enough actor, so I do hope he pulls off the singing, if only because the confrontation is one of my favorite moments from the musical.

I didn't know Anne Hathaway sang. It looks very promising.

I can honestly say that I am completely unfamiliar with Les Miserables. I've heard of the title, and I know it's a play, but that's it. That said...it looks good!

It's amazing. Better than Phantom, IMO. It's probably my favorite Broadway musical, drama-wise.

Les Mes is my favorite Musical, I've seen it 3 or 4 times on Broadway and own the 10th Anniversary concert CD. I think Crowe will make a great Javert, I'm not sold on Jackman as Jean Valjean but I'm willing to give him a shot. Anne Hathaway took me by surprise, I didn't know she could sing that well. I had to watch the trailer twice, the first time I wasn't sure I liked her version of I Dreamed a Dream...but I realized it's not a vocally powerful as Ruthie Henshall but it's actually more emotional, I, that last line of the trailer with the image is gut wrenching.

OMG! Colm Wilkinson is going to play The Bishop, that's awesome!

I heard Hathaway sing in Ella Enchanted, so I knew she could sing, but that was just pop. But then I found a youtube vid of her singing at a Sondheim birthday and figured she could pull this off. Henshall is my favorite, too, BTW. But I think she'll do well. Jackman's got a lot of Broadway under him, so I can see him working out as well. I never heard Crowe sing except for a bit with his band. But I'm sure they'll train him up to Broadway caliber. I think Seyfried is the one I'm on the fence about as she has a rather weak and poppish voice from what I've heard of her.

And hell yeah about Colm Wilkinson! He's the most iconic Valjean for me. A friend and I used to do impressions of him back and forth, kind of a loving parody. "Turn your haaaaaahhhhht into staaaaaahhhhhhoooooorrrrrnnnnne!"

I saw Jackman in "Boy From Oz" he was really good, so I don't doubt his acting/singing chops, I just don't know if I can see him as Valjean.

I saw Hathaway sing in "Ella Enchanted" too and she did a good rendition of "Somebody to Love", I just wasn't sure how much of that was real and how much was studio magic.

I have no idea if Crowe can sing, I hope he can but who knows. The clips of Crowe as Javert just looked great, he had the right presence.

I'm looking forward to this movie, definitely going to see it in the theater.

ADDED INCENTIVE!!! They apparently recorded all the vocals on set to make it seem more immediate and REAL!

Sorry for the caps but everything I hear about this movie fills me with squealing glee!
