You did the right thing. I've been through something similar a little under a year ago. The guy I was dating wasn't the right fit for me, so after a year, I broke up with him. I felt bad for feeling so cold about it, but I couldn't keep up the lie that I was in love with him. Plus, doing something that makes you miserable isn't exactly healthy.

Now that some time has pasted, I'm starting to feel myself "thaw". I'm finding out that negative emotions (misery, lies, guilt, anger etc) keeps you cold. Once you do something to get rid of those emotions, say ending a relationship that makes you miserable, you'll start to warm up again.

I just want to be on my own and enjoy life. I don't want a relationship for a while, which a lot of people don't seem to understand.
