He couldn't have pressed it, either. Zack would say he'd learned at least a few things about tact. If someone didn't want to talk about it right then and there, then they wouldn't. Under normal circumstances, if there weren't crazy ghosts running around, he'd have been gun-ho for it. For asking, trying to figure out what was wrong.
And now Cloud was injured? Just how injured?
Internally, Zack winced a little bit at the thought. Just what happened? And how bad is it? Silent questions, just to himself. For the most part, he was completely and utterly oblivious to what Angeal, to what Mika, to what Cloud and Reno already knew. Zack wasn't completely unobservant. Up close... he could see the youth in his face, a little less jaded, and a little less scarred - the mark of Angeal's demise completely absent. It almost made Cloud feel younger, himself, like he'd un-grown and was walking in through a doorway to his past, back when everything was a lot less complicated. Before-
He had to force himself to tear his eyes away in the end, moving briskly past Zack and covering his almost pained expression by rubbing his face blearily. Naivety, frankly.
Closing and re-taping the door, the lights dim, Zack rubbed his hands together when he moved to face Cloud to give himself something to do while his mind kicked itself into gear. He hadn't been too used to having so much free time, or at least having time to do with what he wanted. And he didn't want to ask Cloud why he always looked so crestfallen. Not yet.
"But yeah! Make yourself right at home. You look kinda tired, anyways..." Not that it looked too lived-in. Zack was a little frightened of that. He always needed something to do to put some kind of focus, before his bones ached from the tension ( ... )
