[ WHO ]: Mello, Matt, anyone who responded to this. Or not. [ WHERE ]: Room 506 [ WHEN ]: Last Night [ OPEN/CLOSED? ]: OPEN [ RATING ]: PG to start. [ WARNINGS ]: ghost violence, language [ NOTES ]: None
The transmission had caused Seth to turn off the stove and grab his gun, seconds later he was out the door. He always kept the communicator on for signs of trouble, and this sounded like big trouble. There was definitely a ghost preying on the residents lately, Seth had felt her sweet caress himself before the air was chocked out of him. Luckily for him he was room-mates with Link, and that boy never let ghosts hurt anyone while he was around.
Still, this Mello, Seth did not know if he was covered. Matt was supposed to be there, was he? It was late, maybe he was asleep himself? Maybe he would be next if Seth didn't get there fast.
It was only one floor up, but he was sure the door would be locked. If Matt was inside, he'd have to count on him to let him in, either that or break down the door.
Through the solid door they could hear the sounds of struggle as Mello struggled to at least dodge the knife. As if she had grown tired of his theatrics the ghost plunged the blade forward and anyone nearby would have heard the blond's choked scream as the freezing blade went through flesh. The knife went in just above his left hipbone.
Meanwhile, Itsuki was running up the stairs, determined to do something to help Mello. If there was an opportunity to save anyone, he had to take it. He had to. Maybe if he helped enough people... Maybe then, he would be worthy of Mutsuki's forgiveness.
He hurried beside Seth once he saw him, breathless from running so much and so quickly. Judging from the way Seth was pounding on the door, he was no doubt here to help Mello as well.
"Will that man be all right?" It was the first question that came to mind.
The next time, Matt knew it wasn't a dream. Seth's alarmed cry, the sound of another voice, and Mello's choked scream all came together like puzzle pieces. And it formed a picture that Matt actually wished was a nightmare.
He scrambled out of bed, stumbling across the dark bedroom until he was standing in the doorway. His eyes widened at the scene -- the hands holding Mello in place, the ghost, the knife that had been plunged into Mello's body.
Matt probably wouldn't remember screaming for help later. But that's exactly what he did as he rushed over to the couch. All he could think about was replacing those ghostly hands with his own.
