Thank you for this. I think it's unfortunate that the investigation has revealed what is likely to be Indian-on-Indian crime based on financial grievance. The real story really is what seems to me to be a general denial that there is racism in Australia and a hostile, institutionalized, dismissive attitude.
I don't think it's that cut & dried. Police detained & questioned 2 Indian men in relation to the death of Ranjodh Singh, but they haven't charged anyone. And it's not clear whether he was a labourer or a contractor.
Yes, I am agnostic as to the actual circumstance of this particular case. The problem I see, however, is how racial denialists are spinning this to: 1) distract from the racial disparity in violent crime victims, 2) bolster their argument that India is ignorant and meddling in Australia's affairs, and 3) Indians in Australia are imagining things.
I think there are all sorts of political & structural factors too. Like the circumstances that led to these immigrants taking on contract farm labour in the first place. And the shambles that is the commodified education system.
