"Yes, but being partially bald won't help much," Edward retorted, dark eyes flashing for a moment.
And I can definitely imagine that Gentleman Johnny kept an excellent cellar. Poor young Pellew. *wry grin*

*blush* I'm glad you liked that line. One of the things Wikipedia mentioned about him was this: "Consequent on a high-spirited quarrel with his captain, he was put on shore at Marseille". That told me that he wouldn't hesitate to speak up if he felt the situation warranted it.
I think anyone of his rank would have had a fine cellar. It's almost required. *wink*

Poor Edward got such a shock, didn't he? Neatly done and full of surprise - I was sure this was going to turn out to be a 'sick over the captain's shoes' story.
And I just spotted the name - was Rupert Graves an intentional choice?

*grin* I wasn't sure where I was going with him and the lieutenant until Graves started crowding poor Edward. *pets him*
Well, no. I just thought they fit together well. Why, is it the name of an actual person?

Also, even if Lt. Graves is pretty Rupert, it's still not very nice of him.

In my head, Edward hadn't seen Kitty Cobham before he encountered her as the Duchess, but then he and Edrington go see the School for Scandal and he recognises her then.
