I'm having this problem-- exactly the same problem, the tone-in-limited-third POV and Stop Using Your Vocabulary No I Don't Even Care-- with a friend of mine whose writing I'm editing, and it's a constant struggle. At least you get to kill your own darlings, instead of having some bitch beta coming in nd trying to do it for you? Idk, hard stuff, man.
