C&P'ed your letter because it's far more polite and succinct than anything I'd write. What are they SMOKING? Why did they think this would be a good fucking idea?

That's actually synecdochic's letter; mine was more along the lines of HEY LOOK AT ALL THESE TRANNIES. WE ARE GETTING THE FUCK OUT IF YOU DON'T TAKE IT BACK. But more diplomatic-like.

I don't know what the hell they're smoking, but it ain't the good crack.

would you auctually leave LJ based on such a simple thing has having to chose a gender for an online info section? Yes i'm serious.

- sorry if this is terrorbly blunt and insensitive but its "just" a user infomation section.

It's not so much the actual forced choice but what it implies. That Livejournal isn't being supportive or respecting of transgendered people. To put it in perspective, imagine you were involved with a dating website that suddenly said they would force you to identify yourself as a man interested in women, or a woman interested in men. Sure, it's "just" user information, but it's still important to the people it affects.

I suppose your reference makes sense just not as severe as the context of being a gay man unable to look for other gay men on a site that will eventually end in a face to face meeting. Though I do think its a little silly not to allow "Other" as a gender option.
