I, too, find the way the stores structure their inventory maddening (like when you go to the store in January because your brainless daughter has lost her gloves--in Minnesota--and a pair of gloves can't be found for love or money).
Kids wax and wane on gratitude, I've found. On the whole, my two are pretty good, but yeah, I've had moments when I've wanted to whap them upside the head for being snarky. I resist, but boy, I think about it.
My kids are a lot more gracious with other people - which is good, I suppose, that they're good guests and all - but I'd definitely like being taken for granted a little bit less. I know it's common for kids to do that - but still. There's a difference between being taken for granted and complaining when someone is trying to be helpful. :-P
I've loved seeing the ways your kids express their gratitude, when they're in that right frame of mind. They really do love you so much. :)
It does seem awfully early to run out of shorts? Also, I think going on strike is a good idea. Make them see what all you do that they don't even realize:)
