I was in a different city on Wednesday (for an absolute horror of a day), and thus I got to listen to a woman have a full-on meltdown about her homeschooling situation. Had she not been so shrill about it, I would have been fascinated; however, shrill, ick, not now. I gather she's one of the many whose kids' schools are online only, and the drill is you Zoom classes. That's fine until the kids have questions and you discover that that you yourself don't have the teacher's edition of the text and the teacher is uninterested in answering your questions so you can teach your kids. I was there to shop for yarn, which is supposed to be relaxing. So much for the yarn. ;)
Sending you good vibes! The world's slowly going to hell in a hand basket and I am absolutely DREADING November 3rd - and I'm not even American. But there's so unbelievably much hinging on this for so many of my friends and ex in-laws that I am worrying with them and for them. Pandemic and climate chaos on top of it, and no wonder people are paralyzed... =(
As an American, it always amazes me how closely other countries follow our government. I can't say I know the same about the German government, except that Merkel will be stepping down soon. But, yes, we're all paralyzed in terror over not only the prospect that he might win again, but that he might lose and REFUSE TO LEAVE. He's done everything he can to sow seeds of doubt, that the only reason he might "lose" is if the election is rigged. And his bathshit followers will believe him. Can we hide out in your country until it's over? :P
The statements that he will unequivocally accept the vote only in case he wins, that boggles my mind. But on the other hand, with everything else this twat has already said and done, we really shouldn't be surprised. When it comes to US elections, I have a hard time explaining to most my non-American friends the concept of electoral delegates being the deciding factor instead of the actual will of the people. If the election process were different, like it is in most other countries, the last four years probably wouldn't have happened... Feel free to hide out here ... in quarantine. Germany is surrounded by Corona hot spots in Europe and requires a two-week quarantine for everyone who enters the country from such a high-risk area.
