Colonoscopy #8 (I think?) and other stuff

Jun 29, 2020 16:39

Today was my reward colonoscopy. What's a "reward colonoscopy" I hear you ask? It's when you take medication that puts your Crohn's back into remission, symptomatically, and your bloodwork shows inflammation markers have decreased so, as your reward for getting better, the doctor wants to take an actual gander at your innards, to verify that you ( Read more... )

Are you on FB? I'm more active there than here, not that that's saying much.

If you like active outdoor stuff, you could look into renting kayaks and tour a local river or lake. They're quiet and more or less require social distancing.

I understand that some of the zoos are opening. The SF Zoo was my birthday trip many years back. We went on a week day, and the place was mostly empty.

Let's hope that next year is "normal," and we get to travel and see people. This year sucks.

Yeah, the quarantine finally made me more willing to suck it up and be more active on my FB account. I'm "Dap Dap" over there. What's your account?

The Philadelphia Zoo opens the week after my birthday, but it was a nice thought. :)

I tried looking up Dap Dap, and wow! Tons of hits, mostly people from Asia. I didn't see anything that looked like it might be you. Send me a friend request, and you, too, can enjoy exciting posts on gardens, questions, music, and shared posts. Yes, I am incredibly fascinating. snerk.

woohoo - hooray for reward colonoscopy! Not fun, but awesome that your Crohn's has backed off!

I totally get wanting to *do* something for your birthday - this the was the first year in many years that I didn't go somewhere and do something on my birthday - just one more weirdness in this year of weirdness!

I second the suggestion of renting kayaks or stand up paddleboards if you have water near you - the sit on top kayaks, are super easy and don't require any training - just definitely DO put sunscreen on your legs or you will regret it :D

In the end, I settled for getting myself some Cold Stone ice cream today, asking Two to make me GF waffles tomorrow, and deciding I would make homemade pizza for dinner. It would be better if I had thought of someone else to cook something for me, but nobody else has as good a cooking repertoire.

And I'm donating blood tomorrow (assuming I pass), so I suppose that's something special? LOL

Cold Stone is fancy! I've only had it once and it felt very decadent!

I'm donating blood tomorrow (assuming I pass), so I suppose that's something special?I hear you - I have not yet managed to donate blood in the US - I don't always think about it, but when I do, and I try, I get turned away for low iron ( ... )

I've already donated blood once during the pandemic. You do have to remove your mask to have your temperature taken twice (once at the door for COVID and once as part of the regular screening) and to eat afterwards, so that feels awkward. But they've done a good job - or at least, they did at my first test - in spacing out chairs and tables and such so you weren't in close proximity to anyone but medical personnel.

Good luck to you! I've passed the last couple of times, but every single time I just cross my fingers and hope for the best. Eat some beef and broccoli (or other high-iron veg) the night before - it helps a little.
