You picked an intimidating painting to do on your own! Very impressive - your buildings turned out amazing and your bridge is very cool! I actually have not ever been on, or really ever seen, the new Bay Bridge :D

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who can't manage to get a decent orange from the obvious concoction of red + yellow. Might try to buy a small amount of proper orange. Still trying to get a proper green - Michael's has been sold out. As for my blue - it LOOKS like cobalt blue, but it definitely doesn't get me the muted sky blues when you add white. Just more of a smoky lighter colour. I've been very thankful to have my teal/turquoise color, and to have small bottles of both a light tan and a regular brown (the tan and brown are thinner paints, but they'll do). I did try adding yellow to the teal to get green, but it wasn't a deep enough shade of blue on its own; I ended up doing cobalt + teal + yellow in various combinations until I got something sort of mossy, and added a smidgen of white for better opacity, lol.

I mixed up my blues - I have cobalt and pthalo blues - the pthalo is dark. The one the teacher said was more grey/purple was the ultramarine blue.
I don't understand how blues that look the same in the bottle, act so differently on the canvas!
On the one hand - doing similar paintings, is practice, so they should come out better each time? But on the other hand, how many paintings of the same scene do I really need?
