Recent events:

MiniPlu turned 17 on Saturday. SEVENTEEN. After spending much of the week cleaning the house and doing other party prep, her party thankfully came off without a hitch, despite several friends being unable to attend last minute. We just put out a pile of snacks on our picnic table, a bunch of chairs and lit the fire pit as ( Read more... )

Happy belated birthday to MiniPlu!
Also yay for getting her driving license. Is she allowed to drive alone now? (Sorry, don't know how it works in your part of the world!)

Yep! Drivers who are only 17 have the following restrictions:

* Only one passenger allowed (unless their parent is with them)
* 11pm curfew unless they are driving home from work or religious services

But otherwise, it's a regular license. And once they turn 18, those restrictions are removed.

(Please note: these are New Jersey's rules; not every state follows the same restrictions, and most states allow licensing at age 16, so MiniPlu had to wait an extra year.)

Feels like yesterday that she turned 15...

I had the same thing happen to me with Outlander that happened with Game of Thrones. Watched the first season, then started into the books and encountered something that put me off of reading/watching the rest. If descriptions of horrible things make me want to puke onto the pages, I sure don't want to see that fleshed out in motion...

I can see that. I read the entire GoT series (except Dances w Dragons, which wasn't out yet) long before the TV show came out, so I could just use vague mental images, and NOT have the live-action version playing in my mind - which, you're right, I did have when I read Outlander.

For me with MiniPlu - I still remember when she seemed so grownup turning ... four. And eight. And eleven. And ... you get the idea. ;)
