Yep, still alive.

I realize I've been pretty quiet lately. Sorry about that. I just feel like I have less free time than ever, and when I DO have free time, I'm so brain dead, all I end up doing half the time is randomly surfing the 'net and not accomplishing anything. I haven't checked my flist on LJ in 10 days (I have on DW, but that's much smaller). I did ( Read more... )

Good to see a post from you! Sorry life has continued to be crazy...

O has finished "Ship of the Dead", and I really need to catch up on book 2 and 3 at this point -- I loved the first book, it's just hard to find time to read in hardcover anymore, I guess...

I'm glad you were able to have a good TKD class at your old dojo, but bummer that the new place still doesn't feel welcoming... :/

No reading in hardcover on your train commute? If you're sitting, at least you don't have to worry about holding up a heavy book. Of course, you could always buy it a second time, in Kindle format this time.

I've fallen behind on your LJ again, and will try to catch up soon. Did you guys decide if you'll be traveling at Christmas? I did see that you're traveling for Thanksgiving, and I hope your cold goes away. I'm coming down with one now, too. :(

I hear you about being busy ... nowadays, I often manage to scour LJ on weekends only.
If you're interested in travel shenanigans, the last five entries on my LJ are about the recent cruise to Oslo, but I haven't posted much else.

I'll take a look if I can. I've heard Norway is just stunningly beautiful, so I'm jealous! Did you get to see the Northern Lights, too?

Oh, don't be jealous - most of Norway's beauty lies with the deep, ragged fjords up along the west coast and seeing that I went to Oslo in the southeast, I totally didn't see anything of the country and Oslo itself wasn't something to write home about. No Northern Lights either, unfortunately - it's still too early in the year for those and also too far south. Oh well, I guess I have a reason to go back and experience the northwest...

It sounds to me like you need a few more unscheduled three and a half hour naps. With the way your timetable is looking, you could really use the break. Is it impossible to stay at the old place? Could you not do that class instead of the new one? I know you're super busy and knackered but maybe that two hours of freedom and contentment might help a few other things come into focus. xx

I really need to go to bed sooner, lol. That would solve a lot of problems! But by the time I tuck in kids, I'm desperate for some unwinding time to myself - which means I'm up too late. :P ( ... )

Sorry to hear about the busy times ... and worries.

Are there any other dohongs in your area that you could go to? It sounds as if you are really unhappy at your recent one and I don't think that's doing you any good really?

It's not that they're not welcoming. The two instructors have been friendly and polite from the beginning, aside from casting doubt on how "traditional" my training was, since I didn't know certain things. And other students are polite, too. It just ... I don't know. It lacks some of the warmth I'm used to? It feels weird to say that because black belt class at my old school is definitely not that warm - but I also don't expect it to be. The regular classes always were, though ( ... )
