I enjoyed Star Trek Beyond. I loved all the little character moments, and every scene with Anton made my heart seize up. I thought the action sequences were prolonged and a little hard to follow in places. I wish they'd whittled those scenes down and actually replaced them with more exposition. Because, yeah. How DID Krall gain all those powers? Who were his followers? Where did the bees come from? How did he learn about the weapon? They could have done more setting him and Kirk up as antagonists.

And I wish Uhura had been the one to figure out how to confuse the bees! It would have made so much sense, since they even use the word communication, and it would have given her a moment of bonding with Jaylah.

But overall I'm satisfied. :)

(Though I can't help wondering how the British members of Starfleet felt about the name Yorktown.)

(Sorry this is ridiculously late.) Krall did say the bees were already there when he landed on the planet, but, yeah - who developed them in the first place?

I'm utterly in love with ST: Beyond and I saw it for the third time (I am back to shipping Bones/Kirk HARD) tonight. Having read your post before I went, I couldn't stop thinking about Yorktown and its gravity while I was watching the scenes set there, lol!

I keep hearing good things about Beyond... I'd originally thought to just wait for video, but if it's still playing at our local theater in a couple of weeks, I might take the rodents (or just O, on a day that L is working at the zoo), while B is traveling, to keep ourselves entertained in his absence ( ... )

Maybe magical healing makes post-partum healing faster, too, but I would guess at least a couple of weeks?

Given that Tonks is at the battle only a couple of days after giving birth, I guess so.

although not, of course, Voldemort in the past timeline

Oh, right - duh. I forgot where I was in the timeline.

(Because I'm a MONTH behind on LJ - did you get to see Beyond yet?)

Oh, right.

Nope, haven't seen Beyond, and looks like by this weekend, when I was vaguely considering maybe taking the kids, since it's a long weekend and we are B-less, it'll have left all the nearby theaters, so guess I'll just wait till Redbox has it.
