I'm glad you like the art for Rest & Restore as well. I always have trouble with coloring, too. What colors do you think will fit? When in doubt, I look at quite a few Jared and Jensen images on the internet, and then emotionally combine colors that they often wear. This way the viewer subliminally sees something familiar and the images are more believable and likeable.
Since I myself enjoy reading and learning how other artists create their art, I also share my process. In addition, the artwork is explained, giving the reader even more insight into the story. In short - I love fanart and enjoy creating it myself.

So I came up with the idea of both of them standing in front of their joint building project, looking deeply into each other's eyes. Maple I thought was so adorable, the Golden Retriever got his own divider.
These are so beautiful, and I'm amazed by the amount of planning and thought you put into the drawings before you even start. You really bring out the essence of the story, and I totally get the feeling you wanted to convey in these. Gorgeous--and such a lovely Maple and Lief!
Many, many thanks for your praise. Yes, I think a lot before I start sketching and drawing. Just drawing on the fly doesn't work for me. I always have to have a motive or a goal in mind that fits the content of the story. Then my muse jumps for joy and bubbles over with ideas.
I used to have a Goldie who accompanied me for 13 years. Maple reminded me a lot of her. Since Jared has beige Golden Retrievers in real life, I drew Lief with light fur.
Thank you so much for your praise. When I read the description "double front door in robin's egg blue", my muse bubbled over with ideas. The beautiful color just had to go on the cover. I love vintage front doors, so I designed art around a blue door. Jared and Jensen weren't averse to posing in front of it either. Drawing shoot instead of photo shoot, so to speak. :D Jared's depression gave me the idea for the slowly more colorful chapter headings. His world had become gloomy and dark because of the divorce. But Jensen brings the color back into his life.
