Those parties. I've never experienced it so bad to the extent that parents actually take out stuff to show others. More of friendly sharing of what their children has done, after that being humble and saying 'It's nothing much, really.'

You're not alone in finding that awkward! It's a little strange, especially if the username isn't all that easy to pronounce. However, if the username sounded more like it could be a proper name on alias, I would have been fine with that.
