So, in order to bide the time until the next chapter of TIYL is complete, I give you...the locations post!!! Since I've just returned from the place where TIYL is set (namely, Vancouver. AND IT DIDN'T RAIN ONCE. BOOYAH.) I figured I'd take some shots of various locales where I expected the story to take place (and some of these are also yoinked ( Read more... )

Ah, awesome! I have a much better idea of Vancouver now, which will be handy on re-reading the series as it concludes. And also just because it looks like a nice place XD

I was hoping it would help at least somebody out...I'm a very visual person, so to me seeing something really helps when I'm reading about it to help me visualize.

It's a very nice place, at least from what I've seen. There is a fairly scary part of town, but at least the local government has contained all of the drug dealers and such in one small area so unless you're horribly lost as a tourist you should be able to avoid it xP

Well it has! I'm quite a visual person too. :D And I haven't really been to many modern cities so it's pretty tricky for me to get that image when people set their fics there, lol.

I think most places have their shady areas. With my sense of direction I'd probably wander over there by accident XD

I'm from a really small farming town, but I've lived in bigger places for most of my life so for me it's odd to go back home.

I found it funny this year that in one of the magazines in the hotel we were staying at they had an article about how some architect wants to build a multi-unit building right on the border between the ritzy shopping area and the shady neighborhood, and the writer talked about how it's really quite close to downtown so unsuspecting tourists 'can wander right in until some instinct or crack pipe sends them back the other way'.xP Luckily when we stumbled upon it we were driving, but it was still a little scary.

God, that is one gorgeous city. Though I might be biased, since one of my favorite tv shows was filmed there, and since I got into the show I've become a hardcore fan of Canada and Vancouver.

I love being able to see pictures of places that are connected with the fic -- thank you so much for posting! ♥

I love Vancouver, and it makes me sad that if I ever get to move there it'll be a good few years yet...:(

What show is it, if I can ask? There seem to be more and more things filmed in the Vancouver area lately

No problem! I know seeing examples really helps me to visualize things!

Awww! But at least you plan on moving there eventually. At this point, all I'm hoping for is a visit.

Stargate: Atlantis is the tv show. It's the only series I love as much as I do One Piece.

:) It's very useful!

I hope you get to visit sometime, it's really an awesome place to go :)

I've never watched Stargate: Atlantis, although I've heard about it before

Oh my goodness, what a beautiful city. I am a very visual person, so I thank you for these shots. <3

I dearly want to live there now. ;_; *stuck in misery*

I think it's beautiful, as well...(and then I think about how they don't see the sun from November until March...and realize I don't care because it's better than dealing with six feet of snow xP).

Oh yes. I'd rather have no sun than this evil snow. It's not just the snow though, but the loopy weather here too. I'm not kidding when I say this - one day it can be upper 70s and the next it can be almost freezing. xD

It's like that where I am, too. Three weeks ago it was 86 and then just about a week later it got down to about 10 and we had a blizzard >.
