Well, I thought the episode was pretty much what I expected, but let's dive in anyway!

...what...exactly...does one do...to repair burgers???

They all look so enthused about the assignment.

Also, much like The Beatles, Unique seems to have no idea who Billy Joel is.

THE SASS ON HER FACE WHEN ARTIE TRIES TO EXPLAIN IT THO SHE'S JUST 'NO BOY DUNCURR'

Blaine really is the 'piano man' this episode he only plays it for three different songs

I don't know what this face was for but it amused me.

HA SAM JUST LIKE PULLS HIM OUT ALL 'NO STOP SINGING TO THEM WE ACTUALLY HAVE PLACES TO GO' JUST:

Honestly if you saw two guys that looked like this get on the bus and start singing you'd probably be weirded out, too.

hoodie-dude does not appreciate Blaine getting in his face like that.

...why is Blaine looking around like he doesn't know what door to go to he's been there before...

And Kurt will not hug his fiance whom he hasn't seen in a few weeks at this point, no, he's going to go hug...Sam. Huh. Okay. This will be a trend that continues throughout the episode, mind you. I guess Fox used up their 'gay' quota with the engagement and now Kurt and Blaine are relegated to touching even less than anybody else on the show (seriously, Kurt/Sam and Sam/Blaine and Rachel/Santana all touch more in this episode than the guys who are engaged, it's really kind of irritating...)

Oh yay, a hug. Although Santana in the background is super cute.
And we do get this, which I'm fairly sure is unscripted, but Blaine kisses his cheek as he goes in for the hug and I guess Fox missed that:

It's funny, when this episode started my mom literally said, "I like Becky, but they need to tone her down", and thankfully this episode gave us a mostly toned-down Becky.

And then Attack of the Sue

Did anybody care about this triangle when it happened last year? No.
Does anybody care now? No.

And Kurt will naturally go sit beside his fiance and snuggle with him, right? Of course he w-oh no wait he's going to sit beside Sam.

That is not Blaine's normal reaction to being asked to perform.

The fact that Sam just happens to have that harmonica.

So is the old guy supposed to look like an elderly version of Blaine? Because he really does.

Much better than the last time he played piano and performed in NYC.

Santana this entire episode is just like sensing the Samchel happening and idk how she feels about it. I actually thought they were cute back in season two, and I'm quite sure it wouldn't be happening if Lea didn't want it to, so I'm okay with it.

Now he looks happier.

LOOK AT HOW HAPPY AND SUPPORTIVE HE IS NO HE OBVIOUSLY DOESN'T WANT BLAINE TO GO TO NYADA WITH HIM HE'S ONLY TALKED HIM UP LIKE CRAZY.

I'm not quite sure why this whole 'Artie is desperate to show Becky that college can be for her' storyline happened, but I guess because Artie and Becky do have a history I can accept it.

For whatever reason, I ended up liking Jake more than Ryder this episode. Like, okay, you're supposed to be friends, you could actually talk to him instead of just accusing him when you've only heard one side of the story (and this from the guy who made out with Marley while she was dating Jake and Jake, well, forgave him, so...)

I mean, what Jake did was bad, and he knows it, but to his credit he did respect her boundaries and I think the biggest problem with Jarley (besides that I have no emotional investment in it) is that Jake and Marley are at very different places from what they want out of a relationship. Neither of them are wrong (I mean in that Marley doesn't want sex and Jake does), and I think it's very realistic that 15 or 16 year-olds would have a communication breakdown in that situation. Jake's obviously in the wrong in this case, but we know from past experience that he puts up a badboy front when he's feeling vulnerable and that to me was what was happening in this episode more than anything. He apologized, she didn't accept it (which is also fine), that's kind of the end of it at this point.

Plus it led to an awesome song and we got to see Jacob dance so...

This was so random.

LOOK AT BRAD'S FACE COME ON JAKE YOU ARE NOT BLAINE BRAD WON'T LET JUST ANYBODY STOMP ALL OVER HIS PIANO!

not impressed.

Once again tho like the Jyder vibes were way stronger than Marley/anybody like Ryder is angrier about Jake than Marley is and then this look.

Oh Sam. "Hey, do you know Mercedes Jones?" SAM.

Yeah, don't think that interview went too well.

She looks pretty here.

bb!Sam

I...

This needs no other caption.

He's so excited to be getting help, though.

Okay, this song was sung really well but there was just...nothing going on so it kind of became boring.

I love, love, love the lighting, though.

I did like this storyline, because I think it was handled well.

And Artie is always very sweet and respectful with her.

yes, toned!down Becky (and especially in this episode, toned!down Becky who uses a bad attitude as a way to keep herself and her emotions 'safe') is good.

Glee can we please stop with the mythical unicorn of virginity and imply that if somebody's first time isn't exactly perfect that it will ruin their life? Because I don't think it works like that. Not that I have any experience, being ace, but I'm guessing...

THIS THO MAMA ROSE WITH THE BUMP 'N GRIND HELP. ALSO MARLEY'S FACE.

Sam did you raid Blaine's closet.

...why is Rachel getting in there?

"You're hailing a bus! Good!"

cowboy!Sam.

No, this doesn't look suggestive at all, what are you talking about?

The end product is quite impressive, though. And I guess this is why Chord isn't allowed to cut his hair.

Sue likes to threaten him for some reason.

But I did like Sue in this episode, too; when she's genuinely concerned but covering it up with snark it works better than her being outright mean all the time.

...what is Marley wearing? Also, Ryder, not cool. You don't go for your best friend's girl when she's still figuring things out and basically demand she go out with you.

And she's all, 'no Ryder I'm heartbroken I'm processing give me time.'

I thought this was the weakest song of the episode.

Yeah, Kitty and Tina are me here.

HIS 'OH GOD ANOTHER LOVE TRIANGLE' FACE

'hey Ryder remember how I told you three minutes ago I was heartbroken and needed time to process hey well I lied sure I'll go out with you now that you've serenaded me and asked me in front of the entire Glee Club that's what I wanted you to do all along!'

THE LOBSTER CARDIGAN

Also Kurt's picture there is a view of Paris from the top of Notre Dame I was very happy to see that. I have a replica of that gargoyle in my room.

LOL HIS 'YES BLAINE I DO REMEMBER THE NUMEROUS CONVERSATIONS WE'VE HAD ABOUT YOU WANTING TO BE A DOCTOR HOW COULD I FORGET?' face Kurt Hummel is not here for your bullshit, sir.

bb!Blaine

So Kurt's wearing the same colors here as his engagement outfit, and Kurt's pants and Blaine's shirt match. Nice going, costume department. Also Kurt's leading Blaine around a lot this episode.

I really liked this scene for the content, that Kurt can just see right through Blaine's crap and knows what to say to bolster his confidence, and his line about 'I can't stop you from falling but I can make it safe when you do' is just...really powerful, because he's not making promises he can't keep, he's literally just being supportive and loving and knowing Blaine better than he knows himself.

And of course after a powerful moment like that the proper thing to do would be to seal it with a kiss, especially since they're alone, but...oh yay a hug.

This is made worse by the fact that we know they filmed a kiss here (their cinematographer said as much) and they just...chose not to use those takes. Like...sorry, I know the mantra of the Klaine fandom is 'be happy with what you get', but when you compare it to every other couple who would get a sweet moment and a kiss and it's like we always have to pick between the two, it gets annoying really fast :/

I do like that Kurt doesn't let go of him, though.

Nice to see Becky out of her Cheerios uniform.

This guy's trying so hard to be smooth.

Becky's not having it.

ACK WHY IS SHE CHANNELING AN EGYPTIAN PHARAOH WHAT IS THAT HAIRCUT also hi obligatory Tyra Banks camero

See, Sam can totally do interviews well, he was great this time around.

I also kind of like that she made Sam stand up for himself and assert himself here.

Although he's not down with losing weight and good for him, too.

SANTANA 'WHY IS THERE A PIANO YOU KNOW THEY'RE GOING TO SING ALL THE TIME I AM NOT COOL WITH THIS.'

So this is a look at Glee: the future, huh? (with probably occasional stop-overs from Artie). I mean, it's turning into 'RENT' but since I love 'RENT' I'm fine with that and it's infinitely more interesting than Lima's never-ending love triangles.

Santana's still not okay with it. Although I love the fact that they all just accept Blaine's going to be living there and he's already got a piano and is half-moved-in already.

Kurt looked really good in this sweater.

Such a married couple.

And more not-so-subtle Samchel.

She's pulling a Rachel with the hairbrush.

THE WAY RACHEL IS LOOKING AT THEM SHE'S TOTALLY FLASHING BACK TO HER DADS HERE THAT IS WHAT THEY'RE GOING TO BECOME.

Oh look, the anvil of foreshadowing smacking us all in the head again.

Santana sees it.

Happy!Becky

Nice!Sue

Yeeeah, you have one date and you post a pic with hearts on it Ryder last year you were good at romance and now you're pretty much clubbing her over the head and dragging her back to your cave with you what happened?

Ha.

And even if her accepting that date made no sense, I do like that she told him just because they went out once he's got no claim on her and she still needs time. Even though she should have said that from the beginning.

"They're back! Blam!" The fact that everybody calls them Blam pleases me. Also Sam's whole 'woah so much happened' and then tells everything that happened to Blaine. But boo to us not seeing Blaine's audition.

again, I only capped this because his faced made me laugh.

More Blam!touching.

And again, this song looked more like a Jyder issue than anything to do with Marley.

Just in case you forgot they're dating.

I don't know why the whole school got in on this song but it was fun.

And yes, it's nice to hear Matt sing again no matter what my issues with his character are.

So, all in all I liked the episode even though the lack of Klaine affection was...jarring, to say the least, especially after things like 'I Do' and even 'Love Love Love'. Although next week we get Klaine fisting, so...

I meant the puppet what did you all think?

Also I'm quite pleased with the scheduling changes they're going to be making to Glee. If you haven't heard yet, what was supposed to happen was after the December 5 episode it was supposed to go on hiatus until late April or May (which...boo!) but now since Fox's Tuesday comedy block has crashed and burned spectacularly they're moving Glee back to Tuesday nights starting in February instead, and it'll be an hour earlier, but it's against less competition which means ratings should improve and I think it's a good move (and gives us a shorter hiatus!) :)

So...yes. Thoughts?
