Half-Life 2: Episode Two
rimspace wasn't kidding - the Strider assault section, the last bit of Half-Life 2: Episode Two, is the most annoying setpiece in video-game history. I have no idea what Valve were thinking, making something so utterly un-fun. -

Although I probably shouldn't care about this kind of thing, I am disappointed to note that the only contestant who looks like he should be standing on the shoulder of a Giant Robot, whilst reading out a list of his demands to World Leaders... didn't win X-Factor.

Some thoughts on GRRM.
As promised, now that I've finished all published volumes in George R R Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" sequence, here's some thoughts about that, and about other GRRM topics.

So, despite having to play in 15-minute long segments because of regular crashes with the most stable combination of fglrx and wine versions (which I'm blaming mostly on ATI's fglrx drivers, since nVidia owners seem to be able to play Source games stably, for the most part), I've completed Portal.

So, ideally, I would have been preloading The Orange Box over the past few days, ready for some weekend related Portal and Episode 2 action.
Unfortunately, I am yet to find a version of wine which will actually run Source games without crashing, so I am denied my Valve Software fix for at least two weeks (the time until the next Ubuntu AMD64 build ( Read more... ) -
