She should win tbh

But if she loses to the president, at least it was a worthy opponent

Good god, no. She's been a hot topic (both positive and negative) and done some weird/interesting stuff and put out an okay album, but I don't think she remotely deserves the title when there are actually important people on that list like Malala or Wendy Davis. Also lolllll to Prince George being on that list. HE IS A BABY. HE HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING.

The title is not about not doing anything yet (Prince George), album sales (Miley Cyrus) etc. It's about the person who has "influenced the news this year for better or worse". You can't deny that Miley has been literally all over the news the past six months. Everybody has an opinion on her. She also has some kind of cultural impact (professors making sociological and psychological analyzes on her behavior in articles, on TV and even at lectures, many people wearing her VMA-outfit on Halloween, her videos breaking records, she has been the most searched person on search engines, her performance at the VMA's topped Twitter etc.). People even cared more about Miley Cyrus than the possible chemical weapon attack in Syria. I'm not saying that she should win but there's definitely a chance if TIME takes social media and popular culture into consideration instead of politics (they usually focus on politics though). But her being on the shortlist is definitely understandable.

Exactly. No one is saying she deserves more attention than the others. She certainly doesn't, and it would be amazing if Malala Yousafzai or Wendy Davis got the kind of attention Miley does and for as long as she does, but unfortunately it doesn't happen. Maybe, if they got this title it would, Idk, but Miley is hugely deserving of being on this list. That you can't argue. If you do, you clearly just don't understand how the list is compiled.

Speaker of the House John Boehner
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie
Texas Senator Ted Cruz
Conservative donors Charles and David Koch
Kentucky Senator Rand Paul
Russian President Vladimir Putin
Boston bombing suspects Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev

wtf tbh. Only male on that list (aside from POTUS) who should be there is Vince Godigan.

the politicians i could understand (even though i don't like any of those people, at all, i can't deny the fact there are people who actually DO support those nutjobs) HOWEVER, why are the tsarnaev brothers an option? how could ANYBODY (regardless of their political views) like them?
