Comparing Authors

I think I've posted this before, but it might be time for it again.  Anyway, it's something I wrote, looking at two of the most famous writers of Age of Sail/Naval Adventure.

Thank you for posting these thoughts, and thus giving us insight into two very different styles. It is true, that readers may prefer one over the other, but that does not diminish the fact that O'Brian and Forester give us wonderful stories that makes one yearn for more.

What I personally like about O'Brian is that reading the books always prompts me to do more research; even if it only introduced me to Thomas, Lord Cochrane. :)

I appreciate your kind words in relation to my thoughts on the two authors. I don't know if I prefer one to the other, but enjoy reading both of them. And I think O'Brian does make one do some sort of research, probably with his more detailed descriptions of societal relationships and even some of the technical shipboard things.
