:D And was not the son (or grandson) of Lord Ellenborough sponsor of Lord Cochrane after his pardon? :DDDDD

You can go on the 26th? I will so be waiting for your report. Ah, to hear Cordingly!

Yes! Partner and I will both be there to hear Cordingly. I honestly didn't think we'd make it, so I am a very happy bunny indeed :) Of course, I will be happy to report back as best I can and I haven't forgotten about your queries regarding the date of the Speedy's log and that large format booklet.

What joy!What great news!

that large format booklet
If they had a catalogue, I would gladly buy that too, or otherwise a copy of that booklet (fotocopies would be fine too)

If you can, please also thank Mr Cordingly for bringing Mr Guthrie to the attention of readers. :D His great-great grandniece is a charming person

Don't worry, if the museum has belatedly printed any merchandise I will purchase many copies! I'll also put in a special request for the Basque Roads tea towel ;)

I am very shy about talking to "famous people" but I will try and pluck up the courage to thank MR Cordingly on your behalf :)

I wish I could afford a train ticket to get up there! I've been hearing so much about this exhibit from both you and esteven. Wretched ticket prices...*grumbles*

It will run until Feb. Maybe you can get a cheap ticket if you book well in advance, but from your place it would be a long journey. Wouldn't it be cheaper to fly to Edinburgh?

The exhibition produces not only withdrawal symptoms but definite grabby-hands syndrome, esp when it comes to the logbooks of Pallas and Sophie Speedy...or TC's commission as Rear-Admiral signed by the First Sealord Thomas Hardy famous for kissing the dying Lord Nelson at Trafalgar in 1805

...and that five-minute intro film which end with dear Jack standing on the bowsprit *slobbers undignified*
