I had to uninstall Kindle for PC, reinstall older version, then re-download all my e-books. Why? Because my kindle reader is an older model, using the awz extention, not the newer kfx extension. I am all for keeping people from stealing/pirating content, but seriously

I have written several books, all of which are on Kindle, with a few exceptions for those I have in both print and Kindle. This is the first time I have heard of this extension change. Nothing from Amazon.

I've been absent from LJ for a long time. I miss the easygoing pace of LJ and the community compared to the fast-paced political manipulations and advertising BS that FB has hurled us into. I'll still use FB to keep in touch with my childhood friends.

What really irked me was the inability to download the books with desktop program. I would either get the black exclamation mark in the corner, or be told "Cannot open this book. Delete and re-download" only to be unable to re-download.

My kindle PaperWhite is backwards compatible to the older format, but I used a different, older, Kindle device when traveling which can't read the new format. BUT if I hook up the older one to the wifi, I can download the right format for it. Amazon needs to let people choose what format they want, just like BaenBooks do.

I installed older version of Kindle for PC. And now it's downloading files that I can use of my older "Travel model" Kindle, and my at home "Paperwhite" because I can download straight from the internet for it, AND it's backwards compatible and can use the older versions downloaded Kindle for PC.
