Of Cats and Mysteriously Disappearing Knitting Needles

Jun 16, 2010 23:01

So, I've been knitting a lot this week (what with it being International Knitting Week, and all), to the point that I was knitting right until the moment I had to leave for university today. I left my knitting by my computer, intending to pick it up again once I came back ( Read more... )

Oh, cats!! Of course, everything in your home is Dido's, especially cool shiny things that might be important to you.

Ivan likes to knock things over to get our attention. Or pester me to the point where I do things like knocking over a full glass of water. That stopped the pestering fast! He hates getting wet & took off like a rocket.

Yeah... she also has a fondness for all things string-y, which she takes particular delight in hunting.... and eating. She's ruined several pairs of shoelaces already, and has chewed through at least three brand-new shirts. I've long since learned not to buy shirts with ribbons or any other kind of hanging decoration, because she will eat them. She once ate a whole bunch of a sock because it had a loose thread!! It's a wonder she's never fallen ill because of this habit of hers. >_<

Gah! Dido insists on using me as a belly warmer, and will jump onto my lap as soon as I sit down, no matter what. It doesn't matter to her that I'm eating, or knitting a bulky sweater, or typing... if I'm sitting down, my lap's hers, in her opinion.

My sister even made a caricature of her wearing a crown and with the words: "Her majesty the Cat kindly allows us to live in HER house". XD

It's too big to scan, but maybe I could take a picture...

Oh my, Dido really does love strings!

Ivan was just sitting immediately in front of the computer monitor, knowing that since I'd just come in from gardening, I was likely to be at the computer.

If you can get a good picture [interruption while Ivan leaps onto the computer desk and demands petting]of your sister's caricature, I'd love to see it!
[delay in posting while Ivan gets onto my lap]

Not so cute if you take into account that I had to dig the needle out of her kitty litter and disinfect it before I could use it again. :P

Not yet, but some of the other letters and postcards that were sent in this little experiment have started to arrive, so I'm keeping my hopes up. :) When did you send it, again?

(uhm, and did you ever give me your address? I've got something I want to send to you, but I don't seem to have your address jutted down.... :/)

Lol whoaa. Why the needle though? Maybe size or color?

And for a second there, I thought she swallowed it or something =__=;

That pair of needles is my favourite and the shiniest due to constant use (the painting has been chipping off the needle to show the metal inside) so maybe that attracted her? Who knows. I honestly don't understand what goes on inside that kitty head of hers. :/

Well, that was never a worry for me. They're solid metal and too big even for her to swallow... but it still baffles me how she managed to get it from on top of the computer desk to her kitty litter box. Metal knitting needles aren't easy to get a grip of with kitty teeth. My closest theory involves her jumping onto the desk, knocking it off, being taken in by the shiny, playing with it until it rolled close to her box and then deciding to use it to bury her stuff. :/

Lol I thought things become dull if you use it more often, but that's true, to a painted needle :P

I would seriously think of putting security cameras in my house if I had a dog or a cat lol. That way, I would figure out the secret behind their magic tricks >D But too bad for me since I only have dead fish. *blink*
