My Knitting Sweater (and current knitting project)

May 31, 2009 03:19

A long, long time ago, my grandma got fed up of having the balls of yarn constantly roll away from her lap whenever she did a sudden movement while she was knitting. She sat down one day and designed a sweater that would allow her to knit without having to get up to chase balls of yarn every five minutes. She came up with the idea of knitting a ( Read more... )

Oh, neat! I like the sweater and the pockets, and that scarf is coming out lovely!

And your kitty sounds a lot like mine when they get a ball of yarny goodness on the floor. :D

The pockets are a simple big square of yarn that she sewed very loosely on a sweater, it can be a pretty easy addition to any sweater... though I suppose it should be easy to make a summer version, too, with some old t-shirt...

I made lots of mistakes while making that scarf, and some I couldn't fix entirely, but yeah, overall it's looking good. Already I have friends asking me for the pattern... but I can't give it to them because I don't know the Spanish words for the stitches. ^^U

Surprisingly, she's usually more fascinated by my knitting needles than by the yarn... when she's on my lap while I'm knitting, sometimes she gets this "predator" look on her kitty face and she attacks the tail (?) end... it seems the way they move while I knit awakens her hunting intincts. :P

I have a sweater like that--store bought, with only one pocket, but it was a gift from my mom, so it's super awesome anyway. :D Sweaters with pockets are odd but still fun.

Hey, mistakes are how you learn. I have friends who don't ask for the pattern, they say, "Oh, I want one. Make me one." -_- I offer to teach them to knit or crochet instead. :D

My cats are the same way! My bamboo needles have little Teriyaki teeth marks on the ends, though they could have come from Taddeus. I haven't done much lately with the yarn, it's too hot! Even cotton yarn makes me break into a sweat. ;)

Good answer. ^__^

My needles are made from metal, so I have to keep an eye on my kitty so that she doesn't poke her own eyes off, but if they were any other material they probably would have the imprints of her sharp little teeth. :P

Come to the southern Hemisphere; over here it's getting so cold I sometimes can't knit because my fingers are too stiff. If this keeps up, I might try to knit with mittens on soon. ^^U

My cat really is adorable, except for when she's being a pain. ;D

Thanks! The scarf is white with purple and blue hues. ^^
