I should have known...

It finally happened. My cat attacked my mice.
It was my fault, actually... I turned my back on her while I was handling the babies and she stole one. She didn't kill him... That poor mouse! T_T I'm glad he's at least recovering physically -- let's hope that he regains enough strength to fight amongst his brothers and sisters for food.

Yeah, naming the mouse probably wasn't the greatest idea, since that makes it that much easier to get attached, but after an incident like that it's difficult to just go back to the way things were.

It worries me that he is not really growing, and he is not as active as his siblings... whole they are tottering blindly all over the tank by now (and driving their mothers crazy), he just sleeps... I hope I wasn't too late to start feeding him now.

Yeah, that's what I figured. If you hand-feed a baby animal, you're going to get attached to it, name or no name.

Anyway, the rest of the babies are all healthy and happy, and it's getting hard to control them when I take them out of the tank. And the poor mommies are terribly stressed trying to keep them still. Wait until they start jumping around... because baby mice go through a stage where they jump all over the place like fleas. XD
