Hello, Ms. Jenkins?
My name is Kane LeBeau. It's a pleasure to meet you.

"Jasmine." Kane smiles softly as he retrieves a pencil and calculator from his pocket. "Sure, bring it on."

Anya smiles back, handing him the books to balance. "How old is she?"

"She's two years old. Fair warning if you ever meet her, 'why' is her favorite word these days."
Kane checks the sales record, first, and enters amounts
into the ledger, checking them off as he goes. Totals them up into the appropriate column, using the calculator but double-checking the sum quickly on his own. Then he turns to the expenses, noting the various
items such as replacement stock ordered, insurance, utility bills. The math's simple. He takes a minute to
be sure he's not skipping over entries that look alike but aren't. "You've got the stock insured against 'Act of God'?" he asks, mischievously. "Any particular one?"

Anya almost-giggles. "There are some that would tell you its my favorite word, as well."

She watches him work, nodding, then grins at the question. "The insurance company wouldn't let me specify, so it's rather generic. Loki pops around a bit. As does Anteros. So, one can never be too careful."

"Loki?
Yes, I...can see why you'd want to be careful. Are you
an adherent of his?" He finishes the paperwork and hands it back to her.

"Oh yes," Anya says just a touch dreamily. "Very much so."

She goes over the paperwork with a smile, doing the math in her head. "Excellent."

"Ms. Jenkins--Forgive me, but the time--I have to go
shortly." Kane sounds genuinely chagrined. "I'd lost
track. Would...you care to give me a 'trial run'?" he
suggested. "As most employers do?"

"Oh. Of course. And please, call me Anya," she says with a smile. "A trial run sounds good. When can you start? My classes start next Tuesday, and I'd want to make sure you were trained before I left you on your own."

"Wednesday morning--Day after tomorrow, I mean, not next week? If that suits you.
And then please call me Kane."

anya_c_jenkins January 10 2005, 15:35:21 UTC
"Wednesday works perfectly. I'll get together the information you'll need, and that gives us three days of training."

He bows. "Wednesday morning early, then. Thank you."

She smiles. "You're welcome. I'll see you Wednesday, then."

And now Kane's praying that he hasn't just convinced Anya he's crazy. LOL! If she wants to ask Oz or Willow about this, before making a decision, or test him, cool.

*g* She's Anya. She accepts crazy and weirdness with a shrug. The other employee currently is a talking cat and one of the nominal ones is at least part faery. As long as he doesn't sell saltpeter to her boyfriend or anything to end the world, she's fairly happy.
