So there is this Livejournal community that I am getting involved with, and they look pretty neat, so I figured I would pass the link on, since I've heard a bunch of people complaining Livejournal is dead. http://marchland.livejournal.com/
Someone promoted it to me, and I went and had a look at their application form, which incidently required you to promote it in three different places. *raises an eyebrow* I think it's a neat idea - it seems like kind of a boot camp for self improvement, where the community is supposed to work together to help each other become more how they want to be. I got about three quarters of the way through the application form though, and then went and checked the ages of the participants, and realised they're all at least five years younger than me. I'm sure they're all very cool ladies, but I'm just not convinced we would be coming from a similar enough place, you know?
Hmm.. I too raise an eyebrow at the enforced promotion. If the community is as inspiring as the testimonials suggest, it would surely naturally spread by word of mouth.
I think the idea is very neat, and actually quite timely, as I am acutely aware that you are inspired by the people around you. Self improvement is an area I've been passionate about in the past (up to about 5 years ago ;) ;) ), but I have kind of lost my way a little of late.
An application process seems like a good idea, as that is a very quick filter for whether you have any staying power for the improvement or not, as if you can't get the omph together to fill out a form you won't be able to get the omph to manifest change in your life.
I'm starting to get the wigglynigglies in my brain to look for other similar communities or resources, and possibly start a new community with similar aims....
