I know what you mean about pocket cameras. The reason we don't have a superzoom or SLR is, what good is it if you don't have it with you? Anyway, if you're serious about getting one, I suggest you act quickly. The best one ever is the Fuji F31fd, and they're no longer made. It's the last non-SLR that can take clean pictures at 400 or 800 ISO, good for low-light indoor shots like malls. These days idiot-consumer demand has driven up the need for 10-12 megapixel cameras while completel disregarding low-light sensitivity, so all other brands/models, including Fuji's own F40 and F50 models, are complete crap in low-light situations, where they're most often used, and their terrible little flashes don't compensate. Anyway, my point is there are still a few F31s out there if you act quickly, including refurbished ones on the Fuji site, and it may be anyone's last chance for a long time to get a really good pocket cam.

Ah.. that was really some amazing piece of info. Thanks a lot. If I'm buying one, I think I should either go for this one or S3IS. Thanks a lot once again :-)

Quite welcome. I wouldn't think, though, that an S3IS would qualify as a "pocket camera", unless you have some really enormous pockets. I really do like the S3IS, though (my spider pic several blogs back was shot with Deponti's), but it does need a lot of light to work well, and the only way it's really much smaller than an SLR is in that you don't have to carry around the lenses in addition. Just for further amusement on the matter:

(they compare a pocket camera to an SLR -- normally that would be ridiculous)

And...Chaibacca's research is, as usual, EXCELLENT.
