Terrific Three: The Mirthful, the Gorgeous, and the Precious

Feb 27, 2006 16:10

On a rare occasion does one watch three movies consecutively and find them all brilliant. I recently experienced one such occasion.

The Mirthful

You do not ask for ones opinion on A Fish Called Wanda; since to watch Wanda is to love Wanda. This is a universal truth. It’s a tale of murder, lust, greed, revenge, and seafood. A bunch of greedy ( Read more... )

Yup, I loved Parineeta as well. Have seen it thrice. :p However, I would be a much happier fan of that movie if in the last scene, Saif had decided to walk out of his gate and walked into Lalita's instead of wasting his energy on bringing the boundary wall down. Melodrama spoilt the whole effect.

Also, I love the whole sepia effect that the movie has. :)

Love, love, love Howl's Moving Castle. It's soooooooooooo innocent and romantic. :)I totally fell for Howl.

Under The Tuscan Sun put me to sleep :( It was so boring. Pretty but boring :(

You fell for Howl? Heh. I completely adored the movie but I still like Spirited Away better.

And Tuscan Sun...well, my expectations from the movie were very low having read the reviews of both the movie and the book. However, I loved it. I like slow paced movies that are a mere collection of moments.

Howl was more mysterious than Haku.

Won't compare this to any other of Miyazaki movies. All unique and extraordinary for me.

I love slow movies too. But I guess you liked it and I didn't. End of matter :)

Did you like the book? I am thinking of picking it up despite the bad reviews it has recieved. You recommend?

well, it's really just a journal of what it's like to buy a house in tuscany and restore the entire thing. so it's a good read, if you're into that sort of thing :)

Thanks! The inspiration, of course, being Sergio Leone's movie.
