Recreating Magic

This kind of certainty comes but once in a lifetime.

When I first read The Bridges of Madison County by Robert James Waller, I thought that the magical web of emotions that Waller created should not be meddled with. And can they make a movie out of a book without monkeying around? Look at Message in a Bottle, for instance. Waller's book comprises ( Read more... )

Were they older than as depicted in the book? Am not sure. I think the book also depicted them not-so-young. All said and done, they pulled of a brilliant performance.

Now that I have seen two splendid books made into equally splendid movies (remember Sin City?), my faith in movies is renewed. Maybe there are some more such combinations out there, waiting to be discovered by me. =)

Lord of the Rings...Peter Jackson took Tolkien's epic and made it a moving, talking, breathing cinematic legend. Both the book and the film have been praised to death. And yet no compliment can be enough to do them justice.

Another book...Sense and Sensibility...Ang Lee made a impressive feature film out of it. Frankly this is one time when the movie was much much more fetching that its texted version.

You know what? On one bizarre day, long long ago, I promised myself that I would not watch the LotR trilogy before I finish the book. I am still reading (or not reading) 'The Fellowship of the Ring'. :(

I'll take your word that 'Sense and Sensibility' came out better on celluloid because, my love for Austen's writing notwithstaning, I am no big fan of the book. Somehow, it never grew on me like 'Emma' or 'Pride and Prejudice' did.

Strange, I was talking to a friend about both The Bridges of Madison County and Message in a Bottle today after dinner, then I come across the trailers of both these movies on a movie CD and now this post!

Wow, that's freaky, in a nice sort of manner. =)

I had wanted to see 'Message in a Bottle' for a long time inspite of bad reviews. minn gifted me its VCD as I was unable to find one. She warned me it was no great film. But I am still glad I saw it.

So u watched sincity.
I didnt read the book, but watched.

If not anything, I liked the taking initially till I saw the behind the scenes thing. If you didnt see them, do it. I am sure you wouldn't have the same respect u have now.

I watched The notebook the otherday, I couldnt help fall in love with poetic fotography in the movie.

I have not seen behind the scenes for 'Sin City' but I don't understand how it could make the movie any less good. Pry, tell?

I read Frank Miller's graphic novel and then, I watched the movie. Saying I loved it would be a gross understatement.
