Because it is my life...

What do you want from life?

In my opinion, this is a pseudo deep question. When I close my eyes and think about it, the first picture that comes to my mind is that of the Nescafe girl. The one I see on the Nescafe vending machine - curly hair, cheerful smile, hot cup of coffee.

Happiness and peace of mind. That is all I ask for. Not too ( Read more... )

I agree with ur idea of lonely happiness, well or should I say independant happiness.

The other way to look at what other people are trying to say is, may be ur happiness is more fuller and have that sense of togetherness when one gets coupled.

Nope, do not get me wrong. This is not about being alone/independent. I am not discussing the important decision of getting married here. Most definitely not. The example was just that - an example. I am tlaking about the predefined rights and wrongs in our heads. Dare I choose the option that is not the best one in society's eyes, I am called inflexible (read foolish).

I am myself trying to understand the necessity of getting married. I just felt, I dont know if it can compliment the life I am living or wanting to live. And I understand society and parents back home doesnt welcome the non-stereotypical living.

Neways, welcome to the club.

Story of my life! Live life on your terms. Sooner or later people or society so to speak, will come around. And even if they don't...turn deaf, mute and dumb!

I think more than society, it is the people around us, sadly, who have a problem accepting that one might want to settle for lesser (by their parameters anyway).

That aside, this post and your attitude made me very happy. :)

A question of ownership anonymous November 6 2005, 08:37:26 UTC
People who bring you up, people who are (or pretend to be) your friends, people you see at work everyday, people who you work for. Somehow, all of them sometimes end up thinking they own all or part of your life. It is very hard to let them know (especially when its close relations) that this simply isn't true. Persuasion or not, your life is and always will be your own. Help me decide: yes, force your decision on me: no. Be careful who you listen to in life, or you'll end up living their life instead of your own.

As for happiness, its overrated anyway. Can you imagine how boring the world would be if everybody were to be happy all the time? Knowing what you've done with your life is what you wanted to do with it. That is happiness.

For one, I am glad someone has understood the intent behind this post. Yes, interestingly people who are not very close to you but see you a lot, are the ones who poke you the most. My family lets me make my own decisions but not these people.

Happiness is abstract. If I get whatever makes me happy too easily or for good, it ceases to make a difference. Deep down, I like battling for things.
