Perfect musical accompaniment for my lunch break... ;)dalliannJanuary 2 2008, 19:31:52 UTC
I love Liszt. His music is kind of manic-depressive: happy, mellow, sombre, happy, mellow, sombre... Hits every emotion. ^_^
Speaking of classical music, I remember you mentioning a couple months ago that you really liked Russian composers and I just stumbled upon one that I adore. Have you ever heard of Dmitri Shostakovich? According to Wikipedia, he was popular during the 1930s and composed mainly for ballets.
I heard his "Jazz Suite 2" on NPR a few days ago and couldn't get it out of my head so, finally, I went out and got the album. There's very little 'jazz' in it so I don't quite understand the title but every song on the CD is wonderful- some are circus/carousel tunes, some sound like they came right from the Godfather soundtrack, and a few (my favorites) could be mistaken for Danny Elfman's work.
If you haven't heard his jazz suites, let me know so I can include a copy for a future mailing. His work is just wonderful! :D

He does hit every emotion, doesn't he? I didn't really know much about him till familiarising myself with La Campanella.
Have you ever heard of Dmitri Shostakovich? This is why you are sugar and ambrosia. Yes, yes, I do. In fact, I mentioned him to you in an e-mail once. Er, that would've been around October of 2006, when I was writing Bloody Vapours and listening to lots of classical. Except I slaughtered his name, by way of Strastokovich. Oops. :D
Please bless me in a future mailing. I'll be ever so thankful. *hugs you*
