Yes, that new beta friends page is terrible. I tried it, thinking "surely it can't be as bad as everyone says"... but it was worse. I had to switch back within 30 seconds because I could feel a headache coming on.

Congratulations, LJ. You have managed to trigger a headache in a person who never gets headaches. (Seriously, I can count on one hand the number of headaches I've had that weren't related to me being sick or banging my head on something.) I can only imagine how much worse it is for the people who do get headaches/migraines.

I still plan to use LJ for pkmncollectors, but I may be forced to migrate to DW or somewhere else for my personal journal. I already have a DW account. The only reason I don't use it is because 90% of my friends and communities are still on LJ.

Yea. it is awful, and I can't really stand it. I'm a little upset because the same reason, my friends and communities are here. hopefully if they mess everything up more people will go to DW.

as is, if they roll out these changes the only way i will be able to keep up on journals is to check everyones pages myself... :\ the new friends page is absolutely unusable for me. its like, there is a reason my journal is not blaring white. bleh.

a lot of people are saying the white bugs their eyes/gives headaches too but looking like LJ's track record of not giving any fucks.

DW admin talk to and interact with their userbase... LJ shut down their US office and now all the admins forcing these changes are Russian. they dont talk to us. they obviously dont care enough to try to talk to us. its unfortunate.

Do you know if you can customize DW?! I probably sound stupid for whining over the image of Zorg I have on my page, but I spent a lot of time dressing him up for each holiday...;_;

I actually completely understand not wanting to leave because of the layout. My DW right now is currently undergoing an experiment to be just like my LJ... not quite there but you can see what I've done so far here.

It's a little complicated so far, but if I can get everything down square I hope I can help everyone else who wants help into setting up a DW account too. :b

Even if my current LJ theme looks crappy, I did put some effort into it. It is look pretty darn good so far in my opinion.

I know I will need some help, though some say I am beyond it. I just hope that DW does not make the same stupid mistakes that LJ is...:\

I don't think it looks crappy at all. :b besides, its just what you want it to be, and that's what matters. You are the one who looks at it the most. :D

DW won't. Their admins talk to the user base and understand what they want. Even if they considered it, they would hear the feedback and stop ruining things. LJ however, has not and will not.

I'm on Dreamwidth also under yoshikochan, but I never check it. I know most of my friends would sooner move to fb / tumblr both of which I hate, so I'm staying right here. I'll be pretty sad if lj dies down to nothing ... It's my only escape social blog. :'(

Yeah, I don't use FB/Tumblr much even though some of my friends left for there too... but, i did set up my DW account to cross-post to LJ too, so my entries will still be here...

I think I find a way to read some LJ entries from my DW too, but they have to be public? I'm not sure, if I can find out how to friend people with openID i might do that.

as for now, when that "beta" friends page goes final, I will be mostly unable to read people's journals anyway. I gotta figure something out. :(
