Thank you, antof9! :-) Hehe - I was wondering whether anyone would do this, because I know it is a strange request! :-) It is so interesting to hear how you say it. I think you did say 'sang-witches' sometimes - when you were talking about bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches, and tuna salad sandwiches, but other times you say 'san-witch', and other times you say 'sand-witch'. Maybe more people say 'sang-witch' than I realise. :-)
Off-topic, but you say 'myopic' differently from how I say it - I say it with a short 'o' like in 'hot' and you say it with a long 'o' like in 'toe'.
maybe you need to hear me say "sang" :) I don't think I pronounce any variation of "sandwich" with that :) LOL
I think when I'm talking about people who think in a myopic way, I say it the way you do, but when I think about the actual eye thing (and you), I say it with the long o. Mostly.
Did you say why you want it -- elsewhere -- and I missed it? Is it for one of your courses? I thought it might be, so I unlocked it if that helps :) I also tried to say it a bunch of times, but I think the repetition made me lose the "d". Poor thing :)
I was writing about it in the entry I wrote before the entry where I asked people to do a voice post. Where I was ranting about my linguistics teacher! :-)
It did sound like 'sang' those two times when you said it - but maybe it's more that you make the 'n' sound near the back of your throat so it sounds like an 'ng'? The theory is that some people make an 'ng' sound because the following 'w' sound is made at the back of the throat, so people start moving their tongue there in advance. And that other people say 'sam-widge' because the 'w' sound is also made by the two lips, which is how an 'm' is made. I don't know if that makes sense. My entry on it might make more sense. (Or might confuse matters more!) :-)
That's interesting that you pronounce 'myopic' differently for the two different meanings.
