!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the build up of night vale as a character through carlos' eyes is so perfect bc it doesn't lose the strange wonder but the terror is just...more acutely There bc carlos notices it whereas we're used to sort of shrugging and going "ok" when we hear about it through cecil
AND THE WAY HE DISTRUSTS CECIL AND IS UNCOMFORTABLE WITH HIS SPEECHES ty ty you kept cecil so ic but made him see so threatening just from a perspective shift and that was brilliant
eeeeeeeeeeee DARLING this is my new favourite thing, I am so delighted. Of course you and Night Vale fit, of course your Carlos is a delight, of course of course. I loved how light and zippy this felt, how completely terrifying and how joyful. Also this It's just, every time Carlos lays eyes on Cecil (those two times so far, it's always just been his voice delivering the day's disasters, otherwise,) everything inside of him just takes notice and says, that.

I don't want to tap that, Carlos reminds himself, even though he probably does. You know, it's most likely some kind of freaky Night Vale science, some kind of perception field or something wacky like that that makes Carlos see exactly what he wants to see. Maybe the real Cecil has no physical form.
THIS MADE ME LAUGH SO MUCH I CANNOT EVEN. Also I am telling everyone about "how's the weather" it is now canon to me. This is all canon to me. We are done here.
Oh wow. Wow! I've listened to maybe three of the episodes for Night Vale, but I'm familiar enough that this doesn't completely confuse me. That said, I want to always read this. You writing awesome scientists trapped in a horribly creepy town in New Mexico is seriously the best. I'm just shivering all over, damn Elizabeth, reading your fic is like letting poetry sing to your brain. <333
