Update on lj_bizCheck out what Brad Fitzpatrick wrote. Things sound a little better than I, personally, had hoped, but there are still a few things that are unsettling. Brad says that free accounts won't have to view ads, and should simply not join sponsored communities ( Read more... )

I feel like this is still the same thing being said again, only in a slightly more polite way (though totally trashing the original poster, and that makes me antsy, too...). It still reeks of slippery slope and wanting to be MySpace. It's still being used to pay for features that a vast majority of users don't seem to want.

... I guess I just don't feel like it clarified much, and I'm still afraid of what LJ might become.

I agree, it's "spin control" - I think it happened because the addition of corporate sponsorship was covered on slashdot. What bothers me is that the first ten or so comments (and maybe I'm just exaggerating here) here all like "Oh, ok, thanks". I think people are beginning to get the idea that free users aren't getting such a great deal here. I'm worried about how these new features will be presented- will they be in our face, or discreet? I think the new "features" are just an excuse, a cover, for SixApart to get more profit out of livejournal.

I guess we'll see in time, won't we... *dun dun dun*
