[...Did someone just run through through their yard and shove his head underwater? Perhaps yard is a bit generous--Fenimore's been inclined to claim a large area as unofficial Ferines property in her mind since there's a bit of distance between them and the other houses. As such, anything visible through their kitchen window counted for her.

Still, the dishes she was in the middle of washing could wait, though doubtless the water is going to be freezing cold by the time she gets back to them. It looked like Atsuki, and that was certainly not what she had come to consider standard behaviour from him. ...Maybe it was some kind of ninja training. She had no idea.

She took her time, though, not expecting him to be in any danger. She finished with the dishes currently in the sink, set them out to dry, and dried her hands before she even left the kitchen, let alone Fort Melfes.]

[When he still had his head under the water when she rounded the house and wandered towards the river, though, a thought went through her head. She'd never been in a situation where she couldn't breathe, either above or below water. But she was pretty sure she wouldn't be able to hold her breath that long, and Orerines weren't supposed to breathe water unless they happened to be Sophie.

Her lazy walk speeds to a jog as she approaches. Maybe he had taken his head up when she was going around the house, but he had already been down pretty long by the time she had left the kitchen window.] Atsuki!

[Shirley was working in the garden when Atsuki ran past her. She tried to say hello, really! When he dunked his head in the river, her first thought was that maybe he ate something spicy? Whatever it was, it was his own business if he wanted to stick his head in the river. So she goes back to weeding, humming a little as she worked.

It's not until she hears Fenimore shouting that it occurs to her that something might be wrong. She finishes pulling one last weed and tosses it in her compost basket and pulls off her gardening gloves and moderately silly looking sunhat before going to investigate, calling out ahead to Fenimore:] Fenimore? What's wrong?

[Atsuki only vaguely hears them through the water. After all, this is a river and the current isn't working in his favor for, well, hearing things. Still, he senses that more people are near him. Probably Fenimore and maybe Shirley, right? He doesn't want to go back to a place where he can't breathe but... he pulls his head out of the water there to look up at them.

He shakes his head and then forces out:] I... can't breathe...

[Before dunking his head in the water again]

[Tsuzuki is just... frozen in place. Usually he'd run to someone's side if they dipped their head in a river like Atsuki did. He tentatively walks closer, looking down into the river.]

....Uhm. Are you okay?

[He can't hear that well what with his head underwater. But then... he looks up at the guy after pulling his head out briefly-

[This encounter is currently ranking as number five on the list of Weird Things Tsuzuki's Experienced At Luceti.

He scratches his head, before coming down to the riverbank. This calls for horribly inappropriate questions.]

[...He still can't hear well what with having his head in the river. so Atsuki for now just ignores that, what with breathing and all in the water.]

[Later, some time after the younger Ferines girls stop drowning him]

[One advantage to being Ferines is learning at least a handful of recipes that can be reasonably eaten underwater. They mostly involve fish.

It's one such dish that Fenimore is bringing down to the currently submerged Atsuki in a small bag. She hesitates at the surface--technically, the fish is already out of the net regarding her ability to breathe underwater, but she's a bit hesitant to just dive in. At first, she's going to just wade around the edge where Atsuki is.]

[Atsuki, meanwhile, is at the bottom. Or well, he's trying. The river's current is a little stronger than he was expecting and the River isn't as deep as he'd like either, so he's taken to lodging his feet in the riverbed to try to like stay down here. When Fenimore starts to wade in he casually waves up to her, but not wanting to suffocate ever again after that initial fiasco, he doesn't make a move to surface]

[She spends a moment considering just throwing the food down at him and walking away, but she eventually screws up her courage, looks to ensure no one else is watching, and, more or less, walks it down to him. Her hair starts to glow blue when she submerges.

She holds the bag out to him wordlessly when she gets close enough, not looking at him.]

[Tsundere Bella, how we adore you...]

[...He smiles a little to himself, because despite the situation he finds himself slightly proud of her. He of course activates Σ on the Shinen of her courage, but he does wordlessly take the back to be fair, not yet sure what to say to her... or worked up his own courage to try talking underwater, actually]
