I need a explanation.

Ok, so I was watching Skallagrim recently (for those of you that don't know he reviews weapons, and I highly recommend to check out his channel if you are into that). I was browsing trough older videos and I found this..

The video itself is nothing special, it is fairly obvious that sword is crap, but what bothers me is comments ( Read more... )

The big irony is that the diehard fans still claim that the movie sucked because "it got the book wrong" when the major point of criticism from all newspapers and magazines were perfectly applicable on the book as well; unoriginality, boring characters, lackluster plot etc. etc.

I think the movie was better to be honest. At least it had Jeremy Irons in it.

Also, going through the AS archives from 2006 yields several other reviews not shown on the Wiki page:

"Adapted from the first novel in Christopher Paolini's "Inheritance" trilogy, "Eragon" is set in Alagaësia, which would have made a good name for a laxative but is the author's stand-in for Middle-earth of The Lord of the Rings." - David Germaine, MSN ( ... )

Paolinis fans are really delusional, but worst part is: If Peter Jackson directs, movie will be great yaaay!!

P.T Barnum was right, there's a sucker born every minute. That comments section proves it.

Well this took a turn for the confusing. I thought I was having a conversation with myself there a while.

Damn, I forgot that's an actual quote from the Atlantis movie! Now I feel villainous...

Oh, the sarcasm! It's delicious!

I mean there is blindness, and then there is the complete lack of any sensory organs at all.
In all honesty: I look at Inheritance and see it as an example of what you shouldn't do.

I kinda wish they make movie again, with Paolini as advisor, with fans, all book elements and with everything fans want.

Just to prove them the problem is in the book itself.

But they will find a way to bitch about it anyway...

I think it is because a lot of the audience for the Eragon Books were teenagers. I know I was a fan and really liked the first book. Looking back I can see all the flaws. I guess for me, I was sheltered, socially awkward, and saw things in black and white with little gray. I also put a lot of my own feelings into the book. I thought of the dragon partners like digimon partners (equal friendship), I also thought Saphira intelligence was not really insist knowledge but based more on instinct like how baby reptiles grow up with instinct in comparison of baby mammals who learn from mothers. I also thought Saphira was not all knowing but rather a little bit of a know-it-all as in a character flaw of a smart person. I also considered her reaction to the elves mating dance song admission to her lack of acknowledgment about love based relationships and her discovery that she wanted one. I guess to me the movie was too in your face annoying and didn't allow you to relate to it in any way while the book you may have overlook somethings ( ... )

I was the same in that I projected my own desires on the series while ignoring its shortcomings.
