ahahahaha I feel it is possible we were reading this at exactly the same time, because my reaction to this story was pretty much identical to your opening paragraph. (Minus the cereal, because to me a well-balanced breakfast means I let my coffee steep for long enough to taste good before I pour it and take the first desperate sip. Fortunately, sometimes selecting an appropriate mug takes almost that long.) \o/

heeee. you're in a committed relationship with coffee, that's so cute! I am one of those people who's too lazy to get addicted to caffeine. If my uncle had a push-button type coffee maker, I'd be all over it, but the French press is discouraging.
